Saturday 7 September 2013

Adults: £30/£45* Seniors (60+): £27/£40

A day of surprises at Beamish Museum when Cheryl Knight and Rebecca Short reveal items from the folk art collection, including a preview of quilts and templates being selected for the British Folk Art exhibition at Tate Britain during summer 2014. Take a close look at patchwork, applique and wedding quilts that don’t come out very often – indeed you probably won’t have seen some of these examples before. Enjoy handling the quilts before a behind the scenes tour, which takes in the newly opened part of the store. Lunch is served in the Barclays Upper Bank Room in the Town – which is closed to the public. You’ll have a couple of hours at the end of the event to take a look around the Museum. And the best surprise? The fee for the day includes an annual pass, so you can come back to Beamish as often as you like over the next 12months!
