Claire Passmore

I love to experiment with cloth, thread, dye, paint, ink, wax, screen prints, lino blocks, gelatine plates ..... anything that can modify the fabric I use. I am inspired by the natural environment and much of my work is based around the people, wildlife and places I visit. I live between New Zealand and England – so I have plenty of sources of inspiration.

In 2015 I hung my first solo exhibition and published my first book, 'Quilting Originals' in which I describe my methods for creating original art quilts. I also love to teach surface design techniques, free motion quilting, bowl making and patchwork, travelling widely to work with groups and individuals. You can see more on the workshops I offer on my website.

For my work I like to gather and develop the designs for my quilts in sketchbooks, where I can explore and experiment with different ideas and techniques. I have a growing 'library' of sketchbooks which I am happy to share and show how they can be used as inspiration for your own work. I also have a blog which I try to update regularly, sharing news of what I am currently making and ideas for things you might like to try yourself.

You can find out more about my work and my exhibition on my website,

and on my blog
