My love of craft began in childhood, when my mum taught me how to cross stitch when I was two years old. This early start means that I can’t remember a time when I wasn’t sewing! All these years later, I now own Exeter Sewing Machine Company with my husband - a sewing machine and quilt shop in Devon.
My passion lies in teaching - I truly believe that sewing is a wonderful hobby, and that creating something that didn't previously exist is one of the most satisfying activities you can do. Teaching allows me to meet many people, each of whom has their own story as to why sewing means so much to them. I never tire of seeing students feel the same joy and satisfaction that patchwork and quilting bring to me.
My own quilting interests focus on traditional and contemporary patchwork. I am constantly inspired by colour, and the local landscape - being lucky enough to live in Devon! I am also fascinated by the history of quilting, and am a member of the BQSG. I am currently studying for my City & Guilds Level 3 Certificate.
As well as regular classes and workshops catering for all abilities, we run our own Quilt Club based in the shop. I have also held workshops at the Exeter Spring Quilt Festival.
I am always interested in new ways and opportunities to work with fellow quilters and craft businesses. Whether you'd like to discuss one of my classes, running your own workshop in one of our classrooms, or joining our Quilt - you can find my contact details below.
