Quilters' Guild member Irene Heathcote has been awarded the British Empire Medal in the Queen's New Year's Honours for her work with arts and craft, which is very exciting. Irene spent some years working with Project Linus and was their President at one time. Irene also was the instigator of the Guild's Inspire Mark project "Quilts for London". Irene was involved with her team in making and organising the distribution of 17,000 pennants to participants in the 2012 Olympics, Paralympics and Special Olympics. This was an amazing and huge project. Well done to Irene and all those involved in the project, which is recognised by this great achievement.
