Rainbow Spirals

Commercial cottons, machine piecing and appliqué, machine quilting with sweet 16, hand quilting. made after a workshop with Jan Hassard. I added two lots of side borders to make it wide enough for a super king-size bed. Having had a first go at using a sweet 16 long arm quilt machine on the central section, I decided to do more textual hand quilting and French knots in the side borders.

Bee Quilt

Predominantly quilting cotton fabrics with wool wadding handpieced, needle turn applique, machine piecing hand quilting, strings of hexagons for binding

This is entirely my own design, the bee in the centre is pixelated and takes inspiration from tapestry canvas charts and sets the piece off with two circles of hexagons then expanding into a gentle garden scene with a hive, birds on vegetation and bright fruit and flowers at the top of the quilt.by Ann Varley
