Elizabeth Whitehouse

I grew up in a sewing household and I have sewn all my life: dressmaking, curtains, basic embroidery and cross stitch. However, I had never made a quilt before joining The Quilters' Guild.

I started with a lap quilt made from scraps of dress materials and made other small items. I then enjoyed making the 'Mystery Row Quilt' that was featured in 'The Quilter' 2014/15, learning a whole range of techniques along the way. In 2015 my daughter, Rachel, and I attended the Region 7 retreat and did the mystery quilt workshop with Margaret Armstrong. The resulting quilt was eventually finished in 2017. The quilt featuring lots of cats and Kaffe Fassett fabrics was made for Rachel. The bright stripy quilt was made for my niece and the final photo is a small quilt made for the Young Quilters fundraiser. Both of these were made in 2019.

It is so exciting having a world of possibilities - so much to make, so little time!
