I teach patchwork and quilting classes with my friend Alison Gisvold, in Shackleford, near Guildford, Surrey and The Basingstoke Canal Visitors Centre, near Frimley in Surrey. Last term, Summer 2017, the Shacklford class made a beautiful sampler quilt on a BOTW basis and in September 2017 we are continuing with BOTW but this time using only one block and we have chosen the traditional Bear's Claw pattern. The Canal Visitors class will be starting a Row by Row quilt especially designed by Alison to include some new skills as well as old favourites. Both will be using QAYG; so much easier on the students' sewing machines than a whole quilt if bedsized!
Alison and I have been teaching together for more than 15 years and never fail to meet lovely fellow quilters at our classes or to be amazed at the fantastic work that they create. Anyone is welcome to come along to our classes to join the BOTW every Monday morning 10-1pm or the Row by Row on alternate Wednesdays 10-3pm
Update September 2018. This term we are changing things up by having the Beginners class starting a sampler quilt to develop their skills and also for our more experienced quilters, a new block or skill each session followed by individual projects which we will help with as required. The taught class runs from 10-3:00 on alternate Wednesdays at the Canal Centre and in addition, we are opening up the group to ladies who just want to come along and sew and socialise and bring their UFO's etc. in the afternoons.
