Susan Bowhay-Pringle

A newcomer to textile art, although I've stitched since the age of 4. I studied Fine Art (Sculpture) at the Central School of Art and Art Education at Bretton Hall, W Yorkshire. Originally from Northumberland, I live in Italy and my work is generally based on landscape and natural forms I see around me in Umbria, and from the north of England. I use trapunto Fiorentino with applique' and some embroidery, usually on silk, muslin or linen which is recycled. My work is entirely hand-stitched as I like the tactile relationship involved in the slow process of change as stitches and layers of fabric are applied, or cut away.
